PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide good acceleration performance at an additional step in acceleration. SOLUTION: ECU executes a program including a step S210 selecting a map of small engine torque build up characteristics if idling is off but lock up is not on (Yes in S100, No in S200), a step S310 selecting a map of large engine torque build up characteristics if idling is off but lock up is on, and hysterisis with a down shift line is not large (Yes in S100, Yes in S200, and No in S300), and a step S410 selecting a map of middle engine torque build up characteristics if idling is off but lock up is on, and hysterisis with the down shift line is large (Yes in S100, Yes in S200, Yes in S300, No in S400), when the ECU detect a vehicle condition (S10) and finds acceleration demand (Yes in S20).
