A trim assembly adapted to be secured to a support particularly a welded flange joint in a motor vehicle comprises an elongated flexible head 10, a series of clips 14 secured to the head and a cover 12 of a flexible material. Each clip 14 has a portion 20 upturned from its web and having a projecting leg 28 which, when the clip is pushed into position with the part 20 cutting into the cover, engages the head as shown. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 6) each clip has two upturned members 20 in the form of spring clips to make a snap engagement with the head. In a modification (Fig. 12) the head is formed from a flat strip 10b and each clip is secured thereto by crimping as at 37b. Each clip has a pair of opposed arms 38b, 40b extending inwardly from the side portions and the entire head and clips assembly has a cover 12b moulded or extended therearound. Alternative ways of securing the clips to the head in this latter arrangement consist in forming arms from the head which are bent under the web of the clip and in forming the web 10d (Fig. 18) with outwardly projecting parts 52d which are compressed after the clip is placed in position to extend over the web of the clip.</p> |
