PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressurizing method for an engine, including a process for feeding a pressure canceled for compensating specific air leakage caused in an EGR valve for detecting oil leakage. SOLUTION: The pressurizing device for an engine introduces pressurized air into an oil system of the engine. The leak test unit monitors the pressurized engine for detecting a pressure drop indicating oil leakage from an oil seal. The air-pressure leakage caused by the EGR valve having a vent hole is compensated by an EGR compensating unit feeding pressurized air to an air-intake side of the EGR valve. The flow rate of compressed air flowing in the EGR compensating unit is monitored for determining whether the EGR valve has a problem. Application of pressurized air to the air-intake port of the EGR valve compensates air leakage in the EGR valve and prevents oil leakage caused in the oil seal from hiding by air leakage in the EGR valve.
