Compounds of the general formula (II) or (IV) are intermediates in the preparation of 2-phenyl-substituted imidazotriazinones, which have pharmaceutical activity. wherein R1 represents hydrogen or straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms; R2 represents straight- chain alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms; L represents straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms; and R5 and R6 are identical or different and each represents hydrogen, straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, hydroxyl or straight-chain or branched alkoxy having up to 6 carbon atoms. Also provided are processes for preparing the compounds (II) and (IV).
