[Also in Division H2] A plurality of cables, wires &c. such as a pair of conductors 34, 36, are connected together by a sleeve connector 20 which is compressed by forces applied to opposite plane parallel sides 22, 24 resulting in the collapse of bellows-like side-walls 26, 28 as shown in Fig. 2. The connector may be used over a range of conductor diameters and for conductors of rectangular cross section. The sides 22, 24 may have panels removed to facilitate the insertion of solder or other filler materials to consolidate the connection. In other embodiments the sidewalls have panel portions at right-angles to sides 22, 24 in addition to bellows sections; or the panels may be arcuate, curving outwards. A soldering tag may be provided at one end of either or both the sides 22, 24. In a further embodiment each side-wall comprises a single arcuate panel curving inwardly to contact the conductors after compression. Strain-relief tabs may be provided as extensions of the sides 22, 24 at the conductor entry and exit regions. |
