The watercraft (1) has two oar handles (3a, 3b) that are actuated by a passenger of the watercraft. The oar handles stay in connection with a control unit, which controls a power-actuated driving motor based on the operation of the oar handles. The driving motor is connected with a ship propeller for driving the watercraft, where each handle is connected with a generator for generating current. An overcontrol device is provided for decoupling the movement of oars (4a, 4b) from the movement of the oar handles. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a watercraft.
