PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where recording material is always appropriately separated in the heating member of a fixing device even when it is an image forming apparatus whose structure, particularly, structure of the fixing device is different or even when the operation mode of the image forming apparatus is changed. SOLUTION: A gas separation means has a plurality of nozzles arranged in the conveying width direction of the recording material, and a gas amount distribution setting means for uniformizing the distribution of the amount of the gas jetted from the nozzle in the conveying width direction of the recording material.
