PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat a plurality of data files as one data file even when the plurality of data files are divided and formed as to a series of stream data by a restriction in an upper limit of the file size, or the like, e.g. due to a file system. SOLUTION: Data to be recorded on a recording medium are managed as a first data file by a first management information, and also when the first data file is managed further by a second management information, the recording control is carried out so that the second management information is updated in such a manner that the first data files are treated as one virtual data file under the management of the second management information when the plurality of first data files are formed as to a series of stream data to be recorded with respect to the recording medium.
