PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coryneform bacterium having improved L-glutamic acid productivity and a method for efficiently producing L-glutamic acid by using the bacterium. SOLUTION: The invention provides a coryneform bacterium producing L-glutamic acid and a method for producing L-glutamic acid by culturing a coryneform bacterium modified to lower the activity of acyl-CoA synthetase.
