The control circuit, for an electromotor driving a dieselectric locomotive, has pairs of antiparallel thyristors connecting the armature windings to the a.c. supply. The anti-parallel thyristors in the two separate antiparallel thyristor pairs that control currents through opposing armature windings, are themselves controlled so that during the first voltage half wave a current flows from the first supply pole over the first armature winding to the second supply pole, and in the following opposite half wave the current flows from the second supply pole over the second armature winding to the first supply pole. This firing sequence allows the motor to be driven directly to high speeds without forced commutation circuitry. |
