<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kind of LED of which irradiation area is expanded. <P>SOLUTION: The LED is a kind of light emitting diode of which irradiation area is expanded, and it includes an LED chip and a shielding layer. The shielding layer is provided above the light emitting surface of the LED chip; and its length is larger, smaller or equal, or equal than/to that of the light emitting surface of the LED chip.
