PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system capable of decreasing the possibility of overlooking an instantaneous event to the utmost extent. SOLUTION: An image viewer for displaying image data transmitted from an image server determines whether or not past image data are to be superimposed on present image data (step S903). In the case of superimposing the past image data, a past image to be a superimposing image superimposed on a present image among past images stored in a memory is determined. Then the image determined to be the superimposing image is acquired (step S905), and the image determined to be transparently superimposed on the present image and to be displayed is composed with the present image (step S906).
