PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrostatic charge image development that can stably obtain a print high in image quality even under a high temperature and high humidity environment, and to provide a method for manufacturing the toner. SOLUTION: Colored resin particles are produced by a polymerization method including a step of dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition containing a polymerizable monomer in an aqueous dispersion medium to produce liquid drops and polymerizing the liquid, wherein the polymerizable monomer contains a styrene sulfonic acid ester compound expressed by formula (1). In the formula, each of R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>independently represents a substituent selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, and an alkenyl group; and R<SP>3</SP>represents an alkyl group or an alkenyl group.
