PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control crack development by predicting precisely the crack development in a shaft dovetail or by determining an operation condition capable of precluding a crack from developing. SOLUTION: A crack development prediction system 1 is constituted of a computing part 10, an interface part 20, and a storage part 30 or the like. The computing part 10 includes a stress calculation part 11 for calculating an average stress generated in the shaft dovetail, a coefficient range calculation part 12 for calculating an stress expansion coefficient range of the crack generated in the shaft dovetail, and a crack development amount calculation part 13 for calculating a crack development amount of the shaft dovetail in an optional time, based on the obtained average stress and stress expansion coefficient range, an operation pattern, an operation time and a data as to the crack. The stress calculation part 11 has a contact bearing stress calculation part 111 as an individual calculation part for calculating individually a different kind of average stress, a thermal stress calculation part 112, a residual stress calculation part 113, and an average stress calculation part 114 for totalizing the average stresses.
