PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plumb bob retainer wherein unification between a needle body 51 of an installation needle 5 and a holder 52 is not damaged easily by an impact by a hammer or the like. SOLUTION: This plumb bob retainer is equipped with a bobbin for winding a plumb bob thread, a case for storing the bobbin rotatably, and the installation needle 5 for fixing the case on an optional position. In the retainer, the installation needle 5 comprises the needle body 51 and the holder 52 formed in the state where the base part of the needle body 51 is buried, and a meshing part 51c with the holder 52 is formed on the needle body 51, and the meshing part 51c comprises a modified cross-section portion acquired by crushing a part of the needle body 51.
