The arrangement has an electronic controller for commutating the winding runs (1-3) of the reluctance motor, whereby the windings are wound around several stator (4) teeth (7) and are connected to a current source when the motor is running so that respective central pole formation occurs. It uses signals from a torque sensor on the steering column, which are evaluated by the controller, to detect failure of controller and/or electric motor, and isolates the motor from the current source in the event of a failure. |
