摘要 An underwater floating media having high stability at high temperature and low density is provided to be used in the water and at the high temperature above 900deg.C and to have economical and functional advantages by comprising expanded vermiculite to control grain size of the media to 0.1 to 5mm, as well as PVA, methyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose or polyethylene glycol based binder. The floating media is prepared by heating and expanding a natural vermiculite at 900deg.C or more to produce an expanded vermiculite, controlling average fineness of the vermiculite to 0.1-5mm and combining the vermiculite with a binder to produce a formed material, drying the formed material and calcining the dried material at 900-1300deg.C. The binder is selected from PVA, methyl cellulose, carboxylmethyl cellulose and polyethylene glycol based binders and has concentration of 1-20wt.% to total amount of the media.
