<p>A method for manufacturing a function substrate is to be used in a liquid crystal display device having a black matrix. The method includes forming a liquid repelling layer that covers a surface of a substrate; irradiating through a mask pattern with light a first part of the liquid repelling layer that corresponds to the black matrix, such that the liquid repellency of the first part is reduced relative to that of other parts of the liquid repelling layer; and covering the liquid repelling layer, after the irradiation, with a dispersion fluid in which spacers are dispersed.</p> |
