SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ROUTE GUIDANCE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable smooth driving operations at guidance points. SOLUTION: A route guidance system comprises: a current position detection part for detecting a current position of own vehicle as own vehicle position; a route retrieval processing means for retrieving a retrieval route to a destination on the basis of the own vehicle position; a recommended vehicle speed computation processing means for computing guidance-point recommended vehicle speeds indicating vehicle speeds recommended to pass guidance points on the retrieval route; a specific-route-guidance-point setting processing means for setting specific route guidance points indicating specific route guidance points correspondingly to location at which a driver starts braking in front of the guidance points on the basis of a current vehicle speed and the guidance-point recommended vehicle speeds; and a location guidance processing means for starting route guidance for the specific route guidance points on the guidance points when the own vehicle has reached the specific route guidance points.
