PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent position deviation of a baggage caused by a sticky material. SOLUTION: When the baggage W is placed on a shelf 1, a part of the sticky material such as a gummed tape adhered onto a surface of the baggage W is peeled off and sometimes adhered to arm members 9 and 10. However, in the transfer device, after completion of placement action of the baggage W, a control part enlarges the pair of arm members 9 and 10 in a width direction to leave them from the baggage W. In that state, belt conveyors 11 and 12 of the respective arm members 9 and 10 are rotated in an outward direction as the sticky material peeling off action at the same time when both arm members 9 and 10 are retreated onto a carriage 7. Therefore, force for pulling away the sticky material S from the surface of the baggage W is applied to the sticky material S and the sticky material S adhered to the arm members 9 and 10 is peeled off from the surface of the baggage W.
