PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for electrostatic image development having high color reproducibility because of high chroma and satisfactory transparency even with a small amount of a dye, and having good image preservability because of excellent heat and light resistances, and an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: The toner for electrostatic image development is obtained by dispersing dye solid fine particles in a binder resin for forming toner particles, and provides an image of which the chroma is≥75 when the coating weight of the dye is in the range of 5-30μg/cm<SP>2</SP>. The image forming method includes: at least a developing step of developing an electrostatic image formed on an electrostatic image carrier with a toner for electrostatic image development; and a transfer step of transferring a toner image formed at the developing step onto an image recording medium, wherein the above toner for electrostatic image development is used.
