PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embroidery data preparation device and an embroidery data preparation program capable of shortening calculation time needed for connecting line segments. SOLUTION: Whether or not a line segment is present within a block where the present line segment is positioned is searched (S72), and when it is found, distances between the end points of all the line segments found within the block and the terminating point of the present line segment are calculated (S76). Until exceeding a retrieval range (S77:NO), the line segment is searched in an order within the block according to a retrieval order decided on the basis of a retrieval order table (S78), and the distances between the end points of the found line segments and the terminating point of the present line segment are calculated (S80). Then, the distance from the end point of the already found line segment and the distance from a newly found end point are compared, and the one of the shorter distance is output as the next line segment (S82).
