The eccentric tensioner (1a) for a belt drive, and the like, has a running roller assembly with a running disk (7a) with a roller bearing (6a). An operating eccentric (4b) supports the roller assembly, with a swing action to displace it in a radial direction to the roller bearing. A torsion spring (9a) tenses the eccentric in a swing direction to bear against the belt. A plastics setting eccentric (2b) secures the eccentric in an installed position where the spring is tensed, to be fixed by a shear pin (22).
