PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid lens that improves transmittance and light collection efficiency. SOLUTION: In the liquid lens 101, when a switch 132 is turned on, a voltage from the power supply 131 is applied between an upper electrode 120 and a lower electrode 115. This voltage application changes the wettability of a polar liquid 119 to an insulating film 117 in a cavity 102, so that the curvature of an interface between a non-polar liquid 118 and the polar liquid 119 is changed; then, the focal length of the liquid lens 101 is varied. In this case, even when the shape of the upper side of the cavity 102 is polygonal, since a surface tension acts such that the curvature of the interface becomes approximately constant, the curvature of the interface is approximately the same at any position.
