PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat position detecting device capable of correctly detecting the seat position at low cost. SOLUTION: The seat position detecting device is provided on a seat slide device capable of adjusting the position of a seat in the longitudinal direction by slidably assembling an upper rail 2 fixed to the seat with respect to a lower rail 1 fixed to a floor. In the seat position detecting device for magnetically detecting the position of the seat in the longitudinal direction, a detection plate 20 consisting of a magnetic body (an iron plate) is provided on a front end of the lower rail 1, and a proximity sensor 21 for magnetically detecting the detection plate 20 is provided inside a front end of the upper rail 2.
