PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an increased degree of uniformity of radiation dose distribution for the interior of a diseased part. SOLUTION: A particle beam therapy apparatus 1 includes a charged particle beam generation apparatus 2 and an irradiation field forming apparatus 15. A diseased part 62 is irradiated with the ion beam from the charged particle beam generation apparatus 2 by the irradiation field forming apparatus 15. The scattering device 19 and the range adjustment device 20 arranged in the irradiation field forming apparatus 15 in the downstream side of first and second scanning electromagnets 17, 18 are integrated and moved along a beam axis, whereas the Bragg peak spreading device 21 is moved independently along the beam axis. The scattering device 19 moves to adjust the degree of ion beam scattering. The range adjustment device 20 moves to adjust the change of the degree of ion beam scattering according to an absorber thickness adjustment. The Bragg peak spreading device 21 moves to adjust the change of the degree of ion beam scattering arising according to an SOBP device 21.
