The invention relates to a masking device for an openable cover (20) in a vehicle roof, in particular for or in a motor vehicle. Said masking device comprises at least one sealing element (21, 22), which is designed to seal the cover (20) in relation to the vehicle roof, when the cover is closed, and at least two lateral elements (23) that co-operate with the cover and that cover a gap between the cover (20) and the vehicle roof, when the cover (20) is open. According to the invention, at least one lateral element (23) runs flush and/or alongside at least one portion of a sealing element (21, 22) that is allocated to said lateral element (23). The invention also relates to a vehicle roof comprising a masking device of this type.
