Liquid crystal medium (T) comprises a mixture of polar biphenyl compound (I) and at least non-aromatic compounds (Ia-Ic). Liquid crystal medium (T) comprises a mixture of polar biphenyl compound of formula (I) and at least non-aromatic compounds of formulae (Ia), (Ib) and (Ic). R 1>-R 3>halogenated or unsubstituted 1-15C-alkyl or alkoxy, where one or more CH 2is substituted by C?=C, CH=CH, O, CO-O- or O-CO, in which O atoms are bonded indirectly; X 1>, X 2>F, Cl, CN, SF 5, halo alkyl, halo alkenyl, halo alkoxy or halo alkenyloxy with up to 6C; L 1>, L 2>H or F; and n, m : 1-6.
