A camera provided with a bending optical system is further reduced in sizes. A digital camera (301) is provided with an imaging device (2), an exterior section (302), a battery (22), a memory card (24) and a sub-substrate (21). The imaging device (2) includes a lens barrel (31) having a bending optical system, which bends a luminous flux entered along a first optical axis (A1) in a direction along a second optical axis (A2) intersecting the first optical axis (A1), and a CCD unit (32), which receives the luminous flux taken by the bending optical system. The exterior section (302) holds the imaging device (2). At least one of the battery (22), the memory card (24) and the sub-substrate (21) has a substantially rectangular cross section, which is parallel to a flat plane including the first optical axis (A1) and the second optical axis (A2), and is arranged so that the longitudinal direction of the cross section is substantially parallel to the direction along the first optical axis (A1).
