A continuously-operated drier assembly for agricultural grain has a container (4) that surrounds a drying chamber. The grain falls from the chamber through apertures that are opened and closed as required by a slide, falling into an intermediate holding chamber with a closed base. The intermediate holding chamber base remains closed while grain is descending from the drying chamber. The holding chamber has variable-position sidewalls. The slide is an elongated sheet metal profile of essentially rectangular cross section. One of the two chamber sidewalls is formed by the slide. One of the two chamber sidewalls is formed by a frame to which the slide is attached. The slide and/or the sidewalls are height-adjustable. The slide and/or frame are shifted by a motor.
