The parasol (10) has a large folding textile cover (13) attached to the upper segment (21) of a vertical column. The lower end (12) of the column is fitted with a heavy weight. A third segment (22) is inserted in order to facilitate a more flexible adjustment. The upper segment (21) can be rotated around a transversally positioned bolt. The locking and release mechanism is controlled by a sliding element acting on a spring. A second bolt is guided through the column at a lower spot facilitating a motion in a second direction.
