Guide elements (5) located underneath the seat part (1) of the chair are moved along a second set of guide elements (6) attached to a stationary frame part (4) in order to adjust the position of the backrest (2). The seat (1) is slightly lifted at the front when the backrest (2) is reclined. A footrest (3) is movable joined with a system of levers (7) to the lower side of the seat part (1). The footrest (3) is electrically operated and can be moved into any position independent of the position of the backrest (2).
