A packet transmitting method and apparatus for a multicast service are provided to improve the transfer speed of multicast packets by transmitting the slot data of a multicast packet to a plurality of terminal in sequence, deleting the remaining slot data of the multicast packet if ACK signals are received from all the terminals, and transmitting the next multicast packet. A base station creates a multicast packet through a packet generator, stores it in a multicast packet buffer, and transmits slot data of the created multicast packet to the terminals within a previously appointed multicast group in sequence from the first slot data(310-330). If ACK signals are received from all the terminals, the base station creates, stores, and transmits the next multicast packet. In case a NAK signal is received from one of the terminals, the base station transmits the next slot data to the terminal(340,350).
