PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out muting without producing unwanted radiation and noises. SOLUTION: When recognizing a sudden supply of a mute instruction from a sound output state, the digital amplifier decreases a gain of a digital audio signal for stopping superimposition of a dither to thereby generate pulse width modulation signals at a silence level, and stepwise changes a "high" state period and a "low state" period of the pulse width modulation signals and fixes the pulse modulation signals to a "low" state thereby preventing production of the unwanted radiation and the noises.
