In a transient state since change of engine speed until convergence of shaft torque of the automatic transmission output shaft 32, transient time shaft torque that is shaft torque at this time is detected and transient time friction torque that is friction torque at this time is estimated. In addition, convergence time friction torque that is friction torque after convergence is estimated. Based on these transient time shaft torque, transient time friction torque and convergence time friction torque, the convergence time shaft torque that is shaft torque after convergence is estimated. In each of a plurality of engine operating states, convergence time shaft torque at a plurality of ignition timings is estimated, and based on the estimated result, an ignition timing adaptation value in each operating state is calculated.
