PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which outputs a moving image which doesn't give a sense of incongruity, even in the case of discontinuous changes in state of an optical filter, a diaphragm, or an electronic shutter. SOLUTION: The position of an optical filter 102 is varied in accordance with a luminance level, and the optical filter 102 is fixed in such position that light passing optical systems 100, 101, and 102 is not diffracted, and exposure control means 112 and 110 for controlling the quantity of light by the electronic shutter or the diaphragm 101 are provided. In the case of discontinuous changes on state of the optical filter, the diaphragm, or the electronic shutter, a preceding frame image is fixed as an output image till the luminance level becomes an appropriate value.
