PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin sensor capable of identifying precisely a coin, based on a material of the coin passed through a coin passage, even when the passing coin is passed in any of a surface-directed condition and a reverse-face-directed condition. SOLUTION: This coin sensor 1 for a coin identification device for game equipment is provided with the first coin material detecting part 3 comprising the first oscillation side coil 11 and the first reception side coil 31 arranged opposedly with the coin passage 2 therebetween, and the second coin material detecting part 6 comprising the second oscillation side coil 14 and the second reception side coil 34 arranged opposedly with the coin passage 2 therebetween. The first and second coin material detecting part 3, 6 can detect precisely the material of the coin passed through the coin passage 2, based on detection outputs therefrom, since both of the detecting parts are contrary in a relation between reception and transmission with the coin passage 2 therebetween.
