SPARK IGNITION TYPE DIRECT INJECTION ENGINE AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an axial line of a specific injection hole oriented downward near an electrode from being set too close to the electrode with taking manufacturing error of a spark plug and a fuel injection valve into account. SOLUTION: The first injection hole (specific injection hole of which axial line is indicated as a sign L) of a multi-hold type fuel injection valve 18 is oriented to a lower part close to the electrode E of the spark plug 16 projecting inside of a combustion chamber 6. Projection quantity Y (Y1-Y4) of the electrode E into the combustion chamber 6 of each cylinder is detected and anglesθ(θ1-θ4) between the axial line L1 of the specific injection hole and an axial line LB of the fuel injection valve 18 are detected. Combination of the fuel injection valve 18 and the spark plug 16 mounted on each cylinder is selected to keep distance between the electrode E and the axial line L1 as even as possible among cylinders with taking the Y andθinto account.
