PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting composition for PDP(plasma display panel) having the effect of controlling the H<SB>2</SB>O gas quantity and CO<SB>2</SB>gas quantity in the atmosphere in PDP, to provide a fluorophor paste composition using the above composition, and to provide a PDP under control of the impurity gas quantity in a rare gas sealed up therein. SOLUTION: The light-emitting composition comprises a mixture of a water-generating material and a fluorophor that emits on being excited by ultraviolet rays. In this composition, the molecule number ratio: H<SB>2</SB>O/CO<SB>2</SB>is 10 or greater for H<SB>2</SB>O gas and CO<SB>2</SB>gas generated by heating to 450°C-1,000°C determined by temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry (TDS). The fluorophor paste composition comprising the above composition is provided. In the above composition, the water-generating material to be used is such as to be 200 or greater in the molecule number ratio. The PDP (plasma display panel) is also provided, being such that a rare gas is sealed up in its envelope, and the water-generating material is made to coexist in the envelope furnished with a fluorophor layer or the above light-emitting composition is used in the fluorophor layer.
