The device has supply devices with a cord reel (80), from which a cord (50) is removed. An interlacing device is provided for fixing the beginning of the cord and for forming a knot in the cord. A unit is provided for separation of the cord, after the formation of a knot. One of the supply devices (90) has a flexible, expandable and contractible cover, which surrounds the reel in an outer circumferential and flexible pressed manner. The cover consists of an opening (96), via which the cord is removable.
