<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processing method capable of improving response of dynamic range expansion processing. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes a first step of extracting a distribution parameter from a distribution of pixel signal levels constituting a video signal of one screen (ST2); a second step of determining a target value (BP1, BP2 etc.,) for a breaking point, where a tilt of a video signal level variance changes to a summed light volume variance of light incident to pixels of an image pick-up means, based on the extracted distribution parameter (ST4, ST5); and a third step of controlling the image pick-up means to acquire the target value, and changing the output saturation characteristics of the video signal (ST6, ST7). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
