PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve rigidity and pressure-resistant strength, because conventional foamed articles have flexibility and elasticity as cushioning materials, but have insufficient functions as boxes for fishes or shellfishes, namely insufficient rigidity and insufficient pressure-resistant strengths. SOLUTION: This heat-insulating box for the fishes or shellfishes is obtained by mixing and kneading a biodegradable material consisting mainly of corns with a foaming agent and a cross-linking agent and then heating the kneaded product in a mold at a range of 120 to 150°C in an expansion ratio of <30 to obtain the molded article in an average thickness of≥15 mm. The rigidity and pressure-resistant strength of the heat-insulating box can more remarkably be improved than conventional foamed polystyrene, by mixing the biodegradable material as a main material with the foaming agent and the cross-linking agent and then foaming the mixture at a relatively low temperature in an expansion ratio of <30.
