PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide-angle high-magnification zoom lens capable of achieving high variable magnification, which maintains high optical performance, with aberrations being effectively corrected over the entire variable magnification region. SOLUTION: The high magnification zoom lens is constituted, by arranging in the order of a first lens group 110 having positive refractive power, a second lens group 120 having negative refractive power, a third lens group 130 having positive refractive power, a fourth lens group 140 having positive refractive power, and a fifth lens group 150 having negative refractive power, starting from the object side. By moving the second lens group 120 along an optical axis from the object side to an image surface 170 side, the variable magnification from a wide angle end to a telephoto end is performed. By moving the fourth lens group 140 along the optical axis, variations in the image surface (image forming position) accompanying the variable power is corrected, and focusing is performed.
