PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring skeletal characteristics of an earthquake resistant building, for providing a building excellent in earthquake resistance, by minimizing rotation of the building at the time of an earthquake and exerting a proof stress essentially imparted to the building itself. SOLUTION: According to the method of measuring the skeletal characteristics of the earthquake resistant wooden building, for preventing rotational motion of the building at the time of action of an earthquake force thereon, the center of gravity on which the earthquake force acts is obtained, and a rigidity moment value is calculated from a product of a rigidity and the center of gravity. Then the sum of the rigidity moment values for each of right and left sides, is obtained, and a ratio of the right and left moment values is acquired, to thereby easily determine the skeletal characteristics and obtain an indicator.
