PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer film coating method for a metal plate capable of simultaneously coating a surface treatment film and a coating film without generating foaming by using a multi-layer simultaneous coating apparatus when a surface of the metal plate is coated with a multi-layer film containing a metal surface treating agent coating film and a solvent based coating film. SOLUTION: In the multi-layer film coating method for the metal plate, when a film of the coating liquid is delivered from a plurality of slits and the moved metal plate is coated with these films to form the multi-layer film, the coating liquid coated at a side close to the metal plate of the multi-layer film is a water base metal surface treating agent and one or more of the coating liquid coated at a side far from the metal plate is a solvent based coating. The solvent of the solvent based coating is a water-soluble solvent. Since the water-soluble solvent is used, a moisture content in the water base surface treatment film is possibly dissolved in the coating and it can be permeated through the coating and escape into an atmosphere.
