PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To firmly and precisely position a limb by utilizing the intrinsic form of a bone inherent in the limb when it is necessary to securely, precisely and accurately position and fix the limb of a living body for the measurement, diagnosis, treatment, surgery, etc. SOLUTION: The living body fixing device is structured as a mechanism for positioning and fixing a distal part (around the ankle) of the lower limb. The living body fixing device comprises a rotating stage part 60, a vertical part 62, an inclining mechanism 77, a medial/lateral malleolus holder part 76, etc. The medial/lateral malleolus holder part 76 comprises a lateral malleolus pad 66, a medial malleolus pad 68, and a retraction mechanism 79. The lateral and medial malleoli as characteristic bone regions present in the lower limb are used as references for positioning, and the lateral malleolus pad 66 and the medial malleolus pad 68 are positioned and made to abut to the malleoli. Since the lateral and medial malleoli are such characteristic bone regions as can be easily specified from outside of the living body, the reproducibility of the fixing can be made excellent. Further, since the dermal layer present on them is thin, the bone can be securely held between both sides. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
