PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attach a large cloth to be treated such as a whole cloth on a sewing frame with uniform tension with a simple constitution using an existing frame drive mechanism in an embroidery machine. SOLUTION: The rear side edge of the whole cloth is held by the rear frame 6b of a sewing frame 6 and the front side edge of the whole cloth is held by a holding frame 15 extending parallel to the rear frame 6b, when attaching the whole cloth on the sewing frame 6 in the embroidery machine. The whole cloth is stretched on the inside of the sewing frame 6 by moving the sewing frame 6 rearward by a Y drive mechanism 8 with the holding frame 15 engaged to a table 5 in right and left directions by a plurality of air cylinders 34. Thereafter the holding frame 15 is fastened to the sewing frame 6 by a plurality of fasteners 30 in a longitudinal direction and the holding frame 15 is released from the table 5 by deactivating the air cylinders 34.
