<p>A calliper adapted to be mounted to a measuring tape of the form described above comprising a body (21) having a width substantially corresponding to the width of the measuring tape, each side (23 and 29) of the body (21) being configured to be able to slidably engage the lateral edges of the measuring tape (11) to be slidable therealong and to provide free visual access to the indicia bearing face (19) of the measuring tape (11), the body (21) being adapted to lie adjacent the face remote from the indicia bearing face, said body (21) being formed with a lateral protrusion (37) which extends outwardly from the body (21) from the remote face when the calliper (11) located on the measuring tape (21), the protrusion (37) having a reference face, a calliper arm (25) supported from one side of the body (21) to be movable between a stored position overlying the indicia bearing face and an extended position extending laterally from the one side, said calliper (21) having a reference edge (35) which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the measuring tape (11) and is in alignment with the reference face of the protrusion (37).</p> |
