PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and accurately identify a fault occurrence section of a transmission line. SOLUTION: A master station 16 collects time data from slave stations 20, provided at iron towers 10 for installing the transmission line, and sequentially compares the time data of the slave stations 20, in the order of a distance starting from the nearest to the farthest on a path of an overhead ground wire 13. If the more the time data of the slave station 20 is advanced, the farther the station exists, from the master station 16 and the time data of the slave stations 20 farther located from a certain slave station 20 cannot be obtained, the fault occurrence section is identified between the iron tower 10 provided with one slave station 20 and the iron tower 10 provided with the next farther slave station 20.
