PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the shape of cylindrical bodies, which secures reliability of shape measurements without complicating the measuring apparatus. SOLUTION: A cylindrical body 90 is rotated with a pair of reference parts 20 and 20 in contact with an inner circumferential surface 92 in the vicinity of both side end parts of the cylindrical body 90. A displacement detector detects the amount of displacement of an outer circumferential surface 91 of the cylindrical body 90 in a radial direction with the rotation of the cylindrical body 90 from the outside of the cylindrical body 90 at locations 31 and 31 opposed to the reference parts 20 and 20. When a cylindrical body 90 of which the shape is to be measured does not exist, the displacement detector for measuring the amount of displacement of cylindrical bodies 90 is used to detect the positions of the reference parts so as to previously detect positional deviations of the reference parts 20 and 20 which are references of shape measurements.
